Following the great success of our Galapagos Worldschooling event last year, we have decided to run it again this year!

Join us this November and December in the fabulous Galapagos Islands for the Worldschooling event of the year! Stay for one week or two, and experience the magic of this UNESCO World Heritage site where three ocean currents combine to produce a melting pot for marine life, populated with many unique species.

Walk in Darwin’s shoes as we discover the clues that led him to the formulation of his Theory of Evolution.

Explore underground lava tunnels as we learn of the destructive natural forces that created this incredible archipelago, and enjoy unparalleled proximity to the wide range of land and marine life that lives side by side with humanity in this natural paradise.

Together we will learn of Ecuador’s work to protect this priceless ecosystem; the drive to replace fossil fuels with renewable energy, and the challenges the organisations face to manage population growth and eradicate invasive species.

We have partnered with a local language school to provide Spanish lessons for the children, with adult lessons available at a reasonable extra cost. Our program includes unisex soccer lessons with local children at a nearby stadium and although not compulsory, this has proven to be a very enriching cultural exchange that was enjoyed by all.

At Toucanto we believe in cultural immersion, that growth and learning spring from the experiences that young minds are exposed to, and we endeavour to provide opportunities for young (and not so young) minds to learn hands-on about the Galapagos way of life. We have included a trip to a cacao and coffee farm, and a visit to artisan woodcarvers at their workshops. There we can all experience learning not just with our eyes or ears but with our hands, our noses and our mouths too!
