This is a great time to visit Galápagos! At this time, the Humboldt current is carrying rich nutrients to the Galápagos Islands and there is plenty of marine wildlife activity providing for some excellent snorkelling and diving opportunities.
One of the highlights of visiting in November is that the young sea lion pups that are born in August become more adventurous at this time and your chances of a close encounter are good as they love to play with snorkelling humans! This is also a great time to see blue-footed, red-footed and nazca boobies, as they are all nesting during this time of year.
In December, your opportunities to see green turtles are at their very best as the breeding season gets into full swing, so don’t forget your GoPro for capturing those unmissable close-ups! In the arid lowlands, the hot season is approaching and the fragrant Palo Santo that looked so dead and skeletal just days ago is beginning to bud, as life on the Galápagos Islands goes into overdrive.
