Itineraries

Week One

Monday

Spanish lessons from 10am to 12pm

A Tour of the historic city of Quito on the tourist bus; a great way to get an overview of this beautiful city.

Tuesday

Spanish lessons from 10am to 12pm

In the afternoon you will visit a fruteria, identify and purchase fruit, then return to the school and prepare different simple desserts based on the fruit you have purchased.

Wednesday

Spanish lessons from 10am to 12pm

Visit to Yaku Parque Museo del Agua (water Museum) which encourages reflection and the recognition of the value of water.

Thursday

Spanish lessons from 10am to 12pm

Afternoon tour of the Parque La Carolina, with pedal boat ride.

Friday

Spanish lessons from 10am to 12pm

Afternoon tour of the Jardin Botanico (botannical gardens) in the Parque La Carolina

Week Two

Monday

Spanish lessons from 10am to 12pm

Afternoon trip to learn about and participate in chocolate making and discover why Ecuadorean chocolate is amongst the finest in the world.

Tuesday

Our first stop will be at "Quitsato" where there is a monument to Mitad del mundo. From here we travel to
Cayambe, where we will observe the preparation of the famous biscuit (a type of bread) and we will taste it with a delicious coffee.

Next we travel to Lake San Pablo and the Imbabura Volcano.

For our next stop, we will spend approximately 2 hours at the famous Otavalo craft market "Mercado del Poncho".

Next is a tour to the beautiful Peguche Waterfall.

For our sixth and final stop, we will take a boat tour of the Cuicocha Lagoon.

Return to Quito

Wednesday

Our excursion today takes us to the famous 'Mitad Del Mundo', or Middle of the World. Here you can stand with one foot in the Northern Hemisphere, and one foot in the Southern Hemisphere at the same time, or watch the water turning both ways down the drain!

We will also visit the Intiñan Museum where we can learn just how the Incas worked out the Middle of the World!

Thursday

Spanish lessons from 10am to 12pm

Afternoon tour of Quito Mercarcado Artesenal (Artisan Market)

Friday

Visit to Guayllabamba Zoo. Not just a refuge for wild animals, this excellent facility is an animal rescue center and a place of discovery and learning for all who attend.
